Costa Rica is a new addition to the list of ‘hot’ scuba diving destinations. Its varied marine wildlife has been applauded very recently. Along with its popularity as a tourist destination, many organisers are providing first-class dive boats along the Pacific coastline. In the Guanacaste Province, you will witness few corals and reefs but they have a stock of huge variety of fish and soft corals. Places like Murcielagos Island and Catalinas Island are famous for grouper, snapper, mantas, sharks, jacks, cortez angelfish, eagle rays and other tropical species. You can encounter with whale sharks, mantas and hammerheads, and sometimes when they arrive in groups of 500 at the Cocos Island. Just 6km away from El Ocotal, Punta Gorda dive site is popular for the eagle rays which are known to swim in giant columns. The most beautiful place in Costa Rica is Cahuita. It is located down further south and popular with any kind of diving. It is known for its beautiful coral reefs which is more than 500 meters in length. Addition attraction of this place is that you can visit its two amazing ship wrecks. Unfortunately the diving sites towards the Caribbean coast are not well developed comparing to the Pacific coast. Apart from scuba diving, you can also enjoy zip-line canopy tours, white water rafting, ATV tours, waterfall canyoning and horseback riding in Costa Rica.
