Some of the popular dive sites in Florida are Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach, North Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Delray, Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Ft. Lauderdale to name a few. Some of these areas allow ‘Lobster Hunting’ and ‘Spear fishing’ only from the month of July to March. If you have some experience and proper equipments, then you can pick up your own gourmet meal on almost every dive. The water in this area is warm throughout the year due to the Gulf Stream. It has great visibility and considered as the best drift diving location in the United States. It has most diverse marine life. The maximum number of shops and dive boats are in the south-eastern part of Florida. The south-east Florida consists of more than sixty wreck sites within the sport diver limit of 130 feet. If you come to south Florida, you should atleast dive once at the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. It assists in returning the reefs to their pristine beginning. There are also two other artificial reefs known as the Spiegel Grove and the Duane.
Underwater photography is another most pursued activity in Florida. It is considered as a heaven for the shutter bugs. The clear blue water, abundant marine life, wrecks, reef formation along with stingrays, sharks, morays makes it an ideal place for photography. The North-eastern part of Florida has scuba diving facilities too from Jacksonville to Coco Beach, but they are far off shore comparing to the south Florida standards.
